Regional Nodes
We have developed a model that allows information sharing from regional partners through AKN data access nodes. For example, in California, PRBO Conservation Science is hosting the California Avian Data Center, which links directly to the AKN. Read more about CADC here. The AKN harvests all data contributed to CADC through PRBO's server. If you live in a region that has a developing AKN node, please consider collaborating with that group by using the node concept.
Benefits to using the nodes are a more focused regional approach
with specialized tools that will allow region-specific analyses, and a
more robust database architecture that will accommodate all data fields
while sending the AKN the core variables as mapped through the BMDE.
